Sangomar in Senegal celebrates Woodside’s first oil production

Woodside has successfully delivered the first oil from the Sangomar field offshore Senegal, marking a historic milestone for both the company and the country. The Sangomar Field Development Phase 1 is a deepwater project that includes a stand-alone floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) facility with a capacity of 100,000 bpd and subsea infrastructure designed for subsequent development phases.

Woodside CEO Meg O’Neill expressed her satisfaction with this achievement, stating that it reflects the company’s strategy and expected shareholder value generation within the production sharing contract terms. She also highlighted the commitment of teams who have overcome challenges to meet strategic objectives in a complex environment.

Thierno Ly, General Manager of PETROSEN E&P, also expressed his satisfaction with reaching this milestone. He stated that it marks a new era for Senegal’s industry, economy, and people. The successful delivery of Senegal’s first offshore oil project amidst global challenges reflects Woodside’s world-class project execution capabilities and strong relationships formed with PETROSEN, the Senegalese government, and key contractors.
