The United States pledges 377 million euros in humanitarian aid for Palestinians

On Tuesday, the United States announced a humanitarian aid package of 404 million dollars for Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip, West Bank, and other regions. This announcement coincided with a conference in Jordan aimed at increasing assistance for the region. According to the US State Department, this brings the total aid committed since recent conflicts to over 674 million dollars, making the US the largest individual donor.

During their meeting, Blinken and Mustafa discussed a ceasefire proposal put forward by US President Joe Biden. Blinken emphasized that Hamas should accept the proposal as soon as possible, as it would benefit both Palestinians and Israelis. The possibility of reforms within the Palestinian Authority was also discussed. Washington expressed support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with security guarantees for Israel, but clarified that the Biden Administration would not recognize Palestine until negotiations between the parties occur.

The State Department stated that there is an urgent need for more assistance due to poor humanitarian conditions and called on all donors to support life-saving operations in Gaza and surrounding areas. This aid package announcement coincided with a conference in Jordan focused on increasing aid to Gaza. Additionally, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited the region and met with Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohamad Mustafa.
