Suspicious package prompts evacuation and road closures in Lower Macungie; Allentown Bomb Squad called in for assistance | Lehigh Valley Regional News

A suspicious package report in Lower Macungie Township, Pennsylvania has led to the evacuation of a business and the closure of Route 100. The incident occurred at the Ryder Logistics warehouse located at the 8600 block of Congdonhill Drive. Local roads, including Route 100 at Spring Creek Road, were closed as a precaution.

Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Nathan Branosky confirmed that the Allentown Bomb Squad was called in as mutual aid to the state police investigation just before 2 p.m. Monday. Captain John Christopher from the Allentown Fire Department also confirmed this information. The situation is currently under investigation, and updates will be provided as the story develops.

According to Trooper Branosky, the bomb squad is working to determine whether or not the package poses a threat to public safety. Captain Christopher added that local residents should avoid unnecessary travel on affected roads until further notice and follow all instructions from law enforcement officials.
