Unmanned boat “attacks” successfully repulsed in Gulf of Aden during Russian fleet exercises

The Russian Navy’s Pacific Fleet recently conducted exercises in the Gulf of Aden, showcasing its readiness and capabilities in responding to various threats at sea. A detachment consisting of the missile cruiser Varyag and frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov participated in the exercises, which included joint actions to destroy unmanned boats and unmanned aerial vehicles of a simulated enemy. The Russian warships successfully repelled the attacks by firing in sectors and destroying all training targets – both air and surface.

During the exercises, the Pacific Fleet detachment also practiced responding to pirate attacks. In a scenario where a merchant ship was under attack, Russian sailors came to its aid and successfully repelled the pirate attack. These exercises demonstrated the navy’s ability to work together effectively and efficiently in different scenarios.
