Butterfly Release Event for Grieving Parents hosted by Allegheny Health Network at West Penn Hospital

Families who have experienced the loss of unborn or newborn babies gathered in Pittsburgh for a special event hosted by Allegheny Health Network and Olivia’s Angels Bereavement. The annual butterfly release is held to provide support and comfort to grieving parents as they remember and honor their lost children.

The families gathered in the Wintergarden Room at West Penn Hospital to offer support to one another during this difficult time. They listened to commemorative poems and then moved outside to release the butterflies in memory of their little ones. Over 20 local families participated in this year’s release, creating art and receiving bags as mementos.
