A potential new indoor sports facility may be on the horizon for west Henderson

A state-of-the-art sports complex could soon be coming to Henderson, as plans are in the works for a facility to be built behind Chicken N Pickle at St. Rose and Maryland Parkways. This project is a public-private partnership with KemperSports, and Henderson residents will be eligible for 20% discounts on all amenities offered at the complex.

The proposed complex will cover 180,000 square feet and offer a variety of amenities for sports enthusiasts and families to enjoy. The facility will feature basketball courts that can be converted for other court uses such as volleyball and pickleball. Additionally, there will be hybrid turf fields for sports like indoor soccer, box lacrosse, and indoor football.

The facility will also include birthday party and community rooms, as well as family entertainment areas with options like bowling, laser tag, arcade games, miniature golf, a restaurant, and a bar. This new sports complex is expected to attract sports tournaments and generate over $1 million in tax revenue and over $10 million in wages and salaries for workers.

The total investment for the complex is projected to be $70 million, with funding coming from private third-party partners and various one-time funding sources, including public infrastructure bond sales, the West Henderson Development Fund, and the City Municipal Facilities Fund. The Henderson City Council is set to give final approval for the project at their meeting on July 2. Once approved, this new sports complex will provide residents with a wide range of sports
