Jamal Murray makes unexpected appearance at unified basketball game for Colorado students

Jamal Murray, a star player for the Denver Nuggets, played coach rather than player on Tuesday as he participated in a unified basketball game between North Middle School and Aurora Hills Middle School. The game was an opportunity for students with and without disabilities to participate in school sports together.

During the game, Murray helped raise $5,000 for UCHealth, an organization that supports children with disabilities. One student, Felipe Avalos, showcased his impressive basketball skills while dancing on the court with a huge smile on his face. His brother, Johnathan Avalos, also joined in the fun and expressed how much they were enjoying their time together.

Murray commended Felipe’s performance on the court and emphasized the importance of teamwork and having fun. The goal of the game was not to win or lose but to enjoy the experience. Aurora Public Schools received a generous donation of $5,000 from UCHealth to support all unified sports in the district. To further support this cause, Murray matched the donation himself.

After playing coach and participating in the game, Murray expressed his desire to inspire kids to give back and make a positive impact in their community. The money raised will be used to purchase equipment for all unified sports in the district, benefiting students and promoting teamwork and inclusion in school sports.

Overall, it was a heartwarming event that brought together students of all abilities and showed that everyone can have fun participating in sports together.
