MOSTI delves into hydrogen technology for transportation sector

Malaysia’s Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (MOSTI) is concentrating on discovering the potential of hydrogen technology in transportation. The ministry aims to increase the acceptance of hydrogen technology in the country by collaborating with relevant ministries and agencies, thereby establishing a base of end-users in Malaysia.

Recently, MOSTI organized a demonstration session at the lobby of the Investment, Trade, and Industry Ministry. Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli, Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, and Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz were present. The session aimed to showcase the capabilities of hydrogen technology in transportation while aligning with Malaysia’s commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 as outlined in the Hydrogen Economy and Technology Roadmap (HETR).

Furthermore, MOSTI plans to collaborate with private companies to establish mobile hydrogen refueling stations. This initiative will not only highlight the skills and expertise of local talent but also position Malaysia as a leader in the hydrogen economy.
