After three months of silence, the liaison table renews its demand for extension of rule increasing producer credit costs

In a recent meeting, rural organizations expressed their concerns about the rising cost of credit for producers and the risks associated with food imports. They emphasized the need for an extension of the rule that increases interest rates for wheat and soybean producers with more than 5% of stocks, given their upcoming credit needs for the next campaign. The liaison table representing rural entities once again requested a meeting with the president of the Central Bank (BCRA) to discuss these concerns.

During this meeting, rural leaders also highlighted their frustration with previous requests made three months ago, which had gone unanswered. Additionally, they raised concerns about excessive tax increases and fees imposed by different levels of government, as well as the impact of announced food import facilities on local producers. The group criticized domestic producers’ unequal conditions due to high taxes and inflation in regional economies with unique cost structures.

Furthermore, rural entities raised concerns about the high cost of the Foot and Mouth Disease Vaccination Campaign in comparison to neighboring countries. They pledged to raise this issue with control organizations and conduct a consultation within their entities to gather more details on vaccine costs. Rural leaders emphasized that many producers faced critical situations and called for urgent fiscal measures, such as reducing export duties to stimulate production and boost the economy.

Overall, rural organizations expressed a sense of urgency in addressing challenges facing producers and the agricultural sector. They emphasized collaboration between all levels of government and proactive measures to support local production while ensuring sustainability in the industry.
