Construction of Science and Technology Framework Delayed

One year has passed since the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology was established. The department is now evaluating the effectiveness of its plan to integrate research and development (R&D) practices across the government. In March 2023, the department introduced the Science and Technology Framework as a crucial step towards solidifying the UK’s position as a science and technology leader.

Despite not garnering widespread attention, the framework outlined a comprehensive strategy to incorporate science and innovation throughout various government sectors. Ten areas of action were identified, with each department tasked with specific responsibilities to contribute to this overarching goal.

The progress and impact of this initiative are currently being evaluated to determine its success in promoting R&D activities within the government. Researchers and policy experts are closely monitoring the outcomes of this framework to assess its effectiveness in advancing scientific advancements and innovations across the UK.
