Which iPhones are Compatible with Apple’s Intelligence?

At WWDC 2024, Apple unveiled its new suite of generative AI features known as Apple Intelligence. These features will include tasks such as drafting emails and generating custom images and emojis, among others. The company hopes that these new capabilities will boost iPhone sales and increase customer retention rates.

One of the major updates includes a revamped Siri, now powered by Apple Intelligence. This will enable access to specific actions within apps for increased usability. To take advantage of this feature, users will need an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, as older devices are not compatible with the M1 chip required for iPads and Macs.

To streamline access to some tasks, users can opt to let Apple Intelligence and Siri tap into ChatGPT. This integration will make it easier for users to access ChatGPT features, although those with older iPhones can still use the ChatGPT iOS app separately.

The release of Apple Intelligence comes at a time when iPhone sales have been declining and device retention rates have been increasing. By introducing innovative features and new capabilities, Apple hopes to reverse this decline and boost sales. Customers will now have to decide whether these new features are compelling enough to justify upgrading to a compatible device.
