Tatnuck Meat & Seafood shuts its doors in Worcester after half a century

Harvey Slarskey’s legacy lives on as a result of his dedication to providing high-quality meats and seafood to his customers. The business, which was known for its customer service and wide range of options, was founded by Slarskey when he was in his 30s after working in the cattle industry.

Despite changes in the neighborhood over the years, the store remained popular with customers in the nearby area. However, declining business and health issues faced by Slarskey ultimately led to the closure of the one-floor building at 1100A Pleasant St.

Michael Slarskey, who stepped in to help with the business three years ago as his father’s health declined, expressed gratitude to their customers over the years and acknowledged that 50 years in business is quite an accomplishment. He shared that the decision to close was a difficult one but understood that it was necessary due to changing circumstances.

Tatnuck Meat and Seafood will be missed by many as a staple in Worcester community for decades. Its legacy includes a commitment to quality products and customer service that helped build relationships with customers on a first-name basis.
